here.Places to Visit in the Upper Middle Rhine ValleyThe attractions listed on the right edge of this page are shown to mark the beginning and end of the section of the Rhine River Valley that is known as the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, an area acclaimed for its beauty, delightful towns, vineyards and amazing castles. Koblenz, where the Moselle joins the Rhine in its flow through Germany, marks the northern extent of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Bingen and Rüdesheim mark the southern extent of this area. Tour boats from Koblenz or Bingen will take you on a day tour of the the Rhine, including the famed Lorelei Rock. If you choose to drive, we suggest that you drive up one side of the Rhine and return on the other, as each side has many spectacular views and interesting stops.
