Over 1,000 Water nozzles and 4,000 individually programmed white lights
in Lake Bellagio (in front of the hotel) produce illuminated fountains of
water choreographed to music. This is a show that has to be seen to be
appreciated. It is both spectacular and stunning. Although the hotel advises
that the schedule may vary or be cancelled during periods of high winds, the
Fountain show times from Monday through Friday are every 30 minutes between 3
p.m. and 8. p.m. and every 15 minutes between then and midnight. On Saturday
the show starts at 12 noon.
Shows last between five a ten minutes and the fountains are choreographed
for approximately 30 tunes ranging from popular to classical. Each show
focuses on one piece of music, so you can find something new if you stay to
watch successive performances.
Lake Bellagio is huge (8 acres) and
there are a number of areas where you can view the display. We think that the best,
free viewing spots are along the elevated terraces leading up to the hotel on the south
(or left side when standing on the street). Of course, the best views are
from some of the restaurants and bars in the hotel. Click below to see our
video of the dancing fountains put on an attractive night performance.
An updated version of the
former pirate battle between three-masted sailing
galleons that features a music and dance show on the waters, in
which the Sirens of TI lure the pirates to their cove for what the hotel labels
as a “21st century party”. Whatever, it (or the attractive dancers) still
draws large crowds. The effects (explosions, lights, etc.) are great),
although the physical assets of the cast far outstretch the
presentational qualities of their performance (and their outfits)!
The
show is presented in the Siren’s Cove along Los Vegas Boulevard at the front of
the Treasure Island.
If you are a guest of the hotel, you may qualify for preferential position in the
viewing cue - ask when you check-in. Performances are held nightly at 5:30, 7, 8:30 and 10. For more

You may have noticed that there is a fifty foot volcano in the front of the
Mirage. Well, it is much more interesting at night when it erupts in
spectacular flames that shoot approximately 50 feet above the volcano while
fiery "lava" cascade into the water below. Every hour from 6p.m.
to midnight in winter,
starting at 7 in spring and 8 in summer, weather permitting.
Another
stunning aspect of the Mirage is often seen only by those checking in.
Behind the front desk (to the right of the main entrance when you enter) is
a 20,000 gallon saltwater aquarium that simulates a coral reef. The tank is
53 feet long, eight feet high and 6 feet wide (although you can view it only
from the front). Over 60 species of sea life populate the tank. Click
the image below to see our video of the volcano eruption at the Mirage.
The Habitat at the MGM
Grand is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
daily. The Lion Habitat is interesting, informative and
very popular with kids. The lions roam a large, glass walled enclosure that allows for great
views of these majestic animals (usually several are on view at any time).
There is a see-through walkway tunnel that runs through the Habitat,
allowing lions to prowl above and below the visitor. Trainers provide informative presentations, but the time
varies depending on the activity level of the animals . By the way, the lions actually live at a ranch outside Las
Vegas. For more information, click this link from the MGM Grand and
then select the Lion Habitat logo on the left -

The Freemont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas includes Viva Vision

animated, overhead displays around. The display, over five football

light shows are great fun. the "Experience" displays a variety of original shows and soundtracks.
It's free and if you are in the area, you cant miss it (literally). For more
